Hi Hina. I recently noticed mould forming on my sofa and hence used clove oil and salt to remove the fungus and it worked really well for me. I can thus help you by sharing how to remove fungus from sofa. You’d have to be patient as the sofa has to be kept aside for drying overnight. There is also a process using carbonated water. Let me share both of them.

How to Get Rid of Fungus on Sofa?
Here are a couple of ways you can use to remove fungus from the sofa.
Carbonated Water or Baking Soda: You can use carbonated water to remove mould from your sofa. Pour carbonated water over the mould and see how the mould swells and rises to the surface. Use baking soda to prevent the growth of mould and properly clean the sofa.
Clove Oil and Salt: Another option that I have is to use 3 drops of clove oil, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and ½ litre of water. Use the mix to clean the fabric. Then, sprinkle a thick layer of salt over it. Let the sofa dry overnight and clean using a vacuum cleaner in the morning. You can repeat the process until the mould has been removed properly.
This is how to clean fungus on sofa. I hope you find the steps helpful.

I was deeply irked by the white fungus on one of our living room sofas. I asked my mom who suggested using vinegar solution. It didn’t work as I could still see some patches of black fungus with hairy texture around the edges. So, I contacted the NoBroker professionals who deep cleaned all my sofas. They also shared with me some insights on
how to remove fungus from sofa
, which I am sharing below for your reference.
How to Clean Fungus on Sofa?
Sunlight Exposure: The professional said that sunlight will help the moisture to dry and mould or fungus cannot survive in heat as they like dark and damp spaces. So, you must leave your sofa out in the sunlight for a few hours, and take a brush to remove mould residue on the surface.
Vinegar Solution: Vinegar has acidic properties and works as an amazing mould remover technique. This didn’t work for me because I didn’t use in right parts. I came to know that you should create a 1:1 mixture of water and vinegar and use a spray bottle to spray the affected area.
Vacuuming: This is another essential tip that he shared with me on
how to clean fungus from sofa.
He said you just need a vacuum cleaner to remove fungus from your sofa, as it will suck all the moisture off the fabric and make it dry.
Rubbing Alcohol: He further added alcohol works as a great disinfectant to remove any harmful microbes and fungi from a surface. Mix equal parts of alcohol with water and pour them into a spray bottle. After you’re done applying, wipe the fabric with a dry cloth and leave the sofa in the sunlight. It will reduce the moisture level and thus, prevents any regrowth.
These are some of the methods that the professionals recommended to me. I hope they also help you understand how to get rid of fungus on sofa.
