I was at home last weekend touching up my hair when I unintentionally rinsed out the extra dye in the bathroom sink. Within a few minutes my bathroom sink was stained. Previously I faced a similar situation, so I am aware of how to remove dye stains from bathroom sink. I mainly combine equal parts water and bleach. After applying, I wait for ten minutes, and clean with a sponge. But be careful, if bleach is left on the sink for too long, it might discolour it.

How to Get Hair Dye Stains Off Your Sink?

Apart from bleach, to get off hair dye stain off your sink, you can opt for:

  1. Nail Polish Remover: Gently rub the stain with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. Although it can remove the finish on painted or finished surfaces, this works nicely on ceramic or porcelain sinks.

  2. Dishwashing Liquid: Use dishwashing liquid and scrape with a sponge or brush if the stain is new. This method is gentle and safe for most surfaces.

Let me know in the comments below, which one you opted for and what was the result.

I made a huge blunder when, while dyeing my hair, I accidentally spilled the leftover contents on my bathroom sink. Luckily it wasn’t that messy but my mother asked me to clean it immediately before it leaves stains. I quickly wiped it with a cloth but to my bad it had already left some stains on the sink. I didn’t know, so I again asked my mother how to get hair dye off bathroom sink and here’s what she suggested.

How to Get Rid of Hair Dye on Bathroom Sink?

  • Firstly, I mixed very small proportions of baking soda and vinegar. I used more baking soda in comparison to vinegar.

  • Then, with the help of a discarded toothbrush, or after wearing gloves, I applied the stain on the sink, covering most of the stain area.

  • Using a sponge, I scrubbed until the dye had been removed.

  • If you don’t have vinegar, replace vinegar with water and follow the same steps.

  • My mother told me many times, regular dish soap will also work to remove dye stains from the sink, particularly if the stain isn’t new and hasn’t been sitting for a long time.

  • Later I also learned that a mixture of one part of bleach and one part of water can remove hair dye stains from the bathroom sink.

So, to all my fellows who have unknowingly spilled on their bathroom sink and are worrying how to remove dye stains from bathroom sink, I hope I have been able to solve your query.
