I want to keep my home new year party ready and the granite is not helping me much as it has lost its shine over the last few years. I remember my father in law once asked how to polish granite at home from a construction guy who was helping him out building a new floor. I happened to be there and took mental notes. I implemented the strategy he shared and I can share that with you in full confidence.

How to polish granite floor at home?
  • Obvious first, clean the floor and granite tops regularly to increase their longevity

  • Clear out any sticky elements and scrub out dirt and gunk off of the granite

  • Next, go to the hardware store and ask for granite safe polish. Check that it doesn't contain too much acid as it can cause damage to the granite.

  • A simple DIY for homemade polish could be mixing 3 cups of warm water and ¼ cup of baking soda.

  • You can now start with the polishing process. To cover larger areas quickly you can seek help from professional power polishing machines, or you can simply do it by hand. Ensure that you are polishing granite edges properly.

If this looks like a time consuming and tiring task, you must seek professional help.
