My daughter is just three years old, and every time she sees a rainbow, she gets so happy. My husband had noticed the same and suggested that we re-paint her room and have a rainbow drawn for her. I was so glad as well, but I really wanted to do these all by ourselves. I have drawn mandalas on walls several times but did not know how to paint a rainbow on a wall. I sat down with my husband, and we two figured out how can we accomplish the task. It was easy. Learn the process here-

How to do wall painting rainbow?

We both figured out what materials would be needed to complete the art and how it could be done. Here is the entire list and process-

Things you will need:

To draw a rainbow and colour it, you will need-

  • Painter’s tape

  • Pencil

  • Level

  • Ruler and measuring tape

  • Acrylic or latex paints

  • Paintbrshes

  • Cloths and plastic sheets

  • Paint tray

Procedure:

Now, to start with the rainbow drawing, you have to

Remove goods from the wall:

If there are any cupboards, wall hangings, clocks, or other things on the wall, you will have to remove them all. Also, to save the floor from extra paint, lay clothes or plastic sheets on it.

Clean the wall:

Make sure the wall is completely clean so that the paint can stick well to it. If there is dust or debris on the wall, the paint will not stick well, so wipe the wall with a damp cloth.

Draw the rainbow:

I will suggest you draw the rainbow with a pencil first. You can draw horizontal or vertical lines. We, however, opted for a typical rainbow with curved lines, so you choose what type of rainbow you want.

Apply painter’s tape:

Apply the painter’s tape carefully, along with the edges of the rainbow. Make sure to press the tape firmly to ensure it adheres properly and prevents paint bleed.

Start colouring:

Pour paint on your paint tray and start colouring. Do not overlap one colour over another at any cost. If needed, you can apply for another coat of paint as well

Remove the tape:

Once you are finished colouring all seven colours, remove the tape. Add touch ups as needed and paint borders.

After these are done, do not forget to clean up the area. Our daughter never imagined we would paint a rainbow on a wall, and she was so happy. We did a great job, and I am sure you will be happy with the result too.
