Things Required: How to Make Roll Up Fabric CurtainsTwo wooden battens (your finished blind’s width)
Two different fabrics
Cord
Hooks
Screw eyes
Cleat
First, measure the windows and cut a piece of both the fabrics to the right size, adding 10 cm to the length and 3 cm to the width.
Place the fabrics’ right sides together and stitch them down using the sewing machine 1.50 cm in from the edge. Turn the right way round & press.
Choose which fabric you want to be the curtain’s front, then stitch hems of 1.50 cm and then 3 cm onto the curtain’s back at the bottom and top for forming casings for the battens. Insert battens.
Insert two screw eyes into the top batten’s top edge and two directly below on the curtain’s front.
Insert another screw eye into the top batten’s base, 5 cm from the curtain’s edge.
Cut 2 lengths of cord. One should be 3 times, and the other 3.5 times, the curtain’s length.
Tie one end of the cord’s each piece to a screw eye at the curtain’s top. You should tie the longer piece to the screw eye furthest from the extra eyelet.
Lay the cords down the curtain’s back then up the front, threading them through the screw eyes at the top batten’s base, then across into the extra screw eye.
Knot the cord’s lengths together at the ends and pull while rolling up the curtain.
Hang the curtain from the window frame using hooks and screw the cleat to the wall for holding the cord when the curtain is raised.
