When I was a kid, mom would strictly instruct us to shut the doors and windows as soon as the Sun went down. The reason? “

15 years later, here I am telling my kids the same stuff. But honestly I am tired of these pesky little monsters controlling my evenings. I want to keep my windows open while I cook dinner for my family. So I decided I will find out how to get rid of small mosquitoes in the kitchen and voila, I stumbled upon some great hacks. I can share the same with you here.

I decided to take the task up quite strategically. These are the things I did:

• Firstly, I looked out for the source and reason why mosquitoes felt invited to my haven. So I started observing the pattern. If I left some food item in the open for quite some time they would come buzzing around. And where did they come from? Any hole or crack which would lead them to my kitchen basically. 

• Now that I knew how and what triggered them to come inside my house, I decided to take matters into my own hands and of course thanks to my house help, we cleaned up every tiny bit of my kitchen. From countertops to shelves to sink to floor, every damn thing.

• I ensured all the food packets were sealed properly. Any food item didn’t go uncovered.

• Next, I made a trap for these mosquitoes by mixing apple cider vinegar with water in a bowl. The flies and mosquitoes fell for the bait and got trapped. Btw, did I tell you, they can’t stand the strong odours so you have that advantage here.

• To ensure I am fully covered, I thought of calling for professionals to do a pest control round in my house.
