Thank you Vikram for this detailed information about government land for lease. I was also looking at a few reports from last year. I think Varun can use that information as well to make a more informed decision.

According to the reports published online in 2021, the Karnataka government has decided to sell of lands given on long-term lease at guidance value. Since there was no revenue being generated, the government came up with this move. Mr. Varun, you should try getting more details about government land for sale in Karnataka and if suitable, you can choose to buy the land instead of lease land from government.

I have noticed that

how to buy government land in Karnataka became quite a trending topic last year so I decided to do a bit of research. As far as I know, there are no major restrictions on lease of agricultural land for buying, but as Pankaj and Vikram sir said, there are some norms to be followed. If you are having the query, can agricultural land be leased in karnataka, let me tell you yes, you can. Just keep some things in mind:

  • Land leasing can only be done in the districts of Uttarpara, Kannada and Dakshina Kannada for the aim of using the land for a period of 20 years or below.

  • It is better to purchase the land than leasing it

  • If you are a non-agriculturist, seek permission under section 80 of Karnataka land Reform Act from your district’s Deputy Commissioner.

You can contact NoBroker Legal Services’ experts anytime to ask further questions or get your documents checked

The lease agricultural land from Karnataka government is not a tough job so just apply for it. Also make sure your annual income is less than Rs 25 lakhs or else you won’t be granted the permission to lease the land.

I have also seen people asking how to get forest land on lease in Karnataka so let me tell you that the government usually has restricted leasing forest land until and unless the aim is relevant to them. But if one wants to promote farm forestry then he or she can  contact the city development authority and seek their permission.

So if you want to know how to buy a government land in Karnataka , just note two things:

  1. You have to show your father or grandfather was a farmer

  2. Show that you own at least some agricultural land

Yes things are a bit complicated and rules do keep getting updated so it is better to seek expert advice in this regard.

I hope at least you have understood how to buy government land in Karnataka  or lease it.
