Hi there. I recently saw that the faucet on my sink was leaking. There was a leak on the handle. So, I looked up how to repair leaking faucet handles. I have a ceramic disk faucet and the process to repair differs, based on the mechanism of the faucet. The method involves getting to the inside mechanism and replacing the seal. I’ll share the steps you can follow to fix a ceramic disk faucet below.
How to Fix a Faucet Handle that Leaks?
Here is how you can repair your faucet handle:
Start by pushing the handle backwards to access the set screw. Take off the screw and lift the handle.
After this remove the cap, followed by unscrewing the disk cylinder mounting screws and lifting out the cylinder.
Use a blunt screwdriver to lift out the neoprene seals from the cylinder. If the seals are damaged, you’ll have to replace them.
Take distilled white vinegar and a soft scouring pad. Clean the openings of the cylinder and rinse afterwards.
Replace the seals and reassemble the tap.
Turn on the water by moving the handle slowly. The flow of the water should be slow. Otherwise, the force of the returning water can fracture the ceramic disk.
In case you’re replacing the whole cylinder, keep it in place and use new mounting screws to secure it.
This is all I have to share with you. I hope you now understand how do you fix a leaky faucet handle.
