It’s better to connect with friends to help you find a house on rent (honestly, that would be my first choice). But not all of us are lucky to have friends in the city. When I moved to Pune I did not have a single friend whom I could connect with. So, I had to figure out everything on my own. These are the steps I took:
I started by checking out real estate platforms like NoBroker, Housing.com, magicbricks, etc. to find flats and flatmates.
As a precaution and extra measure, I checked out Facebook groups to find someone who wants to rent a property in Pune nearby my office
I also talked to my colleagues who were looking for flatmates.
Thankfully, my search ended with NoBroker. I was able to find a listing and a flatmate who matched my vibe and we have a great arrangement now. It’s a daunting process for some but turned out to be a fun ride for me. My flatmate is my best friend now.
