Hi Ruchi. We have a luminous inverter in our house and I am the one who ensures that water levels remain stable in the inverter. So, I can tell you how to fill water in inverter battery. You need to use distilled water for this. Apart from distilled water, you would require mandatory rubber gloves, a plastic/glass funnel and a plastic container. Never use metal containers or funnels. I will share the steps below.

How to Fill Distilled Water in Inverter Battery?

Here is the process you can follow:

  1. Safety comes first. Turn off the mains of the inverter and switch off the power supply from your switchboard.

  2. On your inverter, you’ll see six stick-like structures, called the float indicators. They will have a green mark and a red level indicator.

  3. When the red level indicator floats to the top and touches the green mark, the water level is sufficient for the battery. However, when the red indicator drops down, that is the sign that water needs to be poured.

  4. So, wear your rubber gloves. Remove the float indicator, which has the red indicator at the bottom point. You can simply twist the float indicator to remove it.

  5. Pour distilled water into the plastic container and place a plastic funnel into the battery seal, where the floating indicator was removed.

  6. Pour distilled water slowly into the funnel. Place the float indicator back in its position. Check the red level indicator, which should touch the green mark now.

  7. Avoid pouring too much water as it can damage the battery.

  8. Turn on the switch from the switchboard and switch on the mains of the inverter.

As far as how often to fill distilled water in inverter battery is concerned, you just need to check the red level indicator. Whenever it drops, you can refill it with distilled water. I hope this helps.

Why inverter battery is not charging?

Hi Buddy. Filling water in an inverter battery was a bit tough I feel. Usually, my dad fills it up at home, and he was the one who taught me how to fill distilled water in inverter battery. It still felt like a challenge to me when I did it the first time, but with practice, now I do it as a piece of cake.

How to Fill Inverter Battery Water?

Here’s how I did to complete the task with ease:

  • First off, I need distilled water. I learned the hard way that using regular tap water can cause issues because it has minerals that can mess with the battery’s performance.

  • Before starting, I made sure the inverter and its power switch were completely turned off. Then, I checked the water level indicators on the battery. If the indicator is at the “Green” mark, it means the water level is good. If it’s at “Red,” it’s time to top it up.

  • I removed the vent plugs from each battery chamber one by one. I didn’t have a funnel, so I made one using a cut plastic bottle, which worked perfectly.

  • I slowly poured the distilled water into each chamber, making sure not to overfill. I don’t want to go above the “Green” mark, or the acid inside can become too diluted.

  • After filling, I wiped off any spilled water and put the vent plugs back. A quick wipe of the battery surface with a clean cloth, and I was done.

Finally, I turned the inverter back on, feeling accomplished. Now, I make it a habit to check the water levels once a month and now, I know how to refill inverter battery water. I hope my answer will help you do it smoothly if you’re doing this for the first time.

Can we use AC water in inverter battery?

0 2024-06-28T20:08:59+00:00

I figured out how to fill water in inverter battery seeing a professional and can explain the entire process to you. There is a basic process for it but I would still suggest you seek a professional’s aid at first. Water filling in the inverter battery may vary depending on the inverter type.

How to Fill Distilled Water in Inverter Battery?

Here is how to fill inverter battery water:

  • Turn off the Inverter: Ensure the inverter and power supply are turned off to avoid any electrical hazards.

  • Check Water Level: Open the battery caps and check the current water level. It should be above the plates but below the maximum level mark.

  • Use Distilled Water: Only use distilled water to refill the battery. Avoid tap water as it contains minerals that can damage the battery.

  • Refill Carefully: Pour distilled water slowly into each cell until the water level is just above the plates.

  • Secure the Caps: Close the battery caps tightly to prevent any leakage. Turn the inverter back on and check for proper operation.

So this is how to pour distilled water in inverter battery. You can also refer to the manual book for the water filling process.

What Happens if inverter battery Water is Low?

Hey Friend,

As an inverter owner, I learned that inverters require distilled water. Hence, I learned about how to fill water in inverter battery. To transform DC current into AC current and power your devices, inverters use chemical reactions. However, chemical reactions rarely take place at their full potential without any problems.

Get your Inverter connected in your Home through professional electricians of NoBroker at the lowest guaranteed prices. Why to use distilled water?

Normal water contains ions. If you charge your batteries with tap water, the ions will build up on the electrodes, form a coating, and obstruct the chemical processes that produce power.

If the water contains organic molecules or dust particles, the chemical reactions that create energy in batteries will be hampered.

Distilled water presents no difficulties for the electrodes because it is devoid of these ions. As a result, inverter battery water should only be made using distilled water. It guarantees the batteries' proper operation.

How to fill distilled water in inverter battery?

  • To find out how much distilled water is in the battery, check the water level indicators. These indications show how much distilled water is present in the inverter battery. The higher level's mark is green, whereas the lower level's mark is red.

  • It is time to add more water if the red mark on the water level indicates that it is low. Before proceeding, make sure the inverter and the electrical socket switch are both off. You want to keep from making any blunders.

  • Turn the water top vent plugs counterclockwise to remove them.

  • The filtered water should be slowly poured into the chamber after removing the vent plug and placing a funnel in the entrance (the top half of a pet bottle can be used as a temporary funnel).

  • For each compartment, repeat these steps. By re-inserting the vent plus into the hole and filling it up until the green mark is reached, the water level may be determined.

  • Reinstalling the vent plug now will seal the chamber as you spin it counterclockwise. Each chamber should receive the same treatment with this process.

  • Clean the batteries, vent plugs, and water level indicators with a fresh cloth.

  • You can turn the power back on after adding fresh water to the battery.

I hope this clarifies your query about how to fill battery water in home inverter UPS battery.

The water level of the inverter battery is indicated on each battery. The inverter has been filled and is operating properly if the indicator is at the "Green" point. If it is at the "Red" indicator, replenishment is required since the water level is below the ideal level.

While analysing how to fill battery water in inverter, you should make sure that the water is never higher than the Green and Red marks. If the inverter is unable to operate at its best because the acid content is too high, it will fall below Red. The acid's performance has been compromised by being too diluted if the water level rises above the "Green" threshold.

I would like to conclude here about how to fill water in inverter battery. I hope this helps:)
