I was helping out a friend recently as he was buying a 2BHK flat in Delhi. I am aware of the whole buying process and was able to help him out with taxes and other legal requirements. He wasn’t aware of the TDS which he needed to deduct while making the payment so I explained it to him. I told him that he will have to deduct TDS and the same should be deposited with the GOI. It is important to timely submit the TDS and get Form 16B from TRACES as it is submitted to the seller. So he asked how to download Form 16b from TRACES. I explained the process below to him.
How to Download 16b from TRACESVisit the official website of TRACES at
https://www.tdscpc.gov.in/app/login.xhtml
Login to the portal using your User ID, password, TAN/PAN, verification code
After logging in go to the ‘Download’ tab
You will find the option ‘Form 16B (For Buyer), click on it
Enter details such as assessment year, acknowledgement number, and PAN of seller
Submit the details and request.
Your request will be sent on the system, now got to ‘Requested Downloads’ option
You can either enter request number or request date to access Form 16B
Now just hit ‘http download’
