Summary
To clean wooden window blinds, first remove dust using a dry microfibre cloth, soft duster, or vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Then gently wipe each slat with an almost-dry, slightly damp microfibre cloth and a small amount of mild, wood-safe cleanser. Avoid soaking, scrubbing hard, strong chemicals, or spraying water directly. Immediately dry each slat to prevent moisture damage and protect the wood finish.

To clean wooden window blinds, first remove dust with a soft microfibre cloth or a vacuum with a brush attachment. And then, to remove trapped dirt, you must use a slightly damp cloth and a small amount of mild, wood-safe cleanser to gently wipe each slat. Do not soak or spray water directly on the blinds. However, always dry each slat promptly after wiping to prevent moisture damage. Below, I have shared in detail how to clean wooden window blinds.

How to Clean Wooden Blinds Without Damaging Them?

  1. Close or tilt the slats: Place them so that you have easy access to the surface.

  2. Get rid of loose dust: For this, you can use a dry microfibre cloth, soft duster, or a vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Begin from the top and go downward.

  3. Dust all sides: Turn the slats in the opposite direction and repeat the process.

  4. Wipe away stubborn dirt: If dust remains, slightly moisten a microfibre cloth with water and a little quantity of mild, wood-safe cleanser. The cloth should be almost dry.

  5. Wipe gently: Clean one slat at a time, without scrubbing vigorously.

  6. Dry out: Finally, after wiping each piece, immediately dry it with a clean, dry cloth.

Last Wednesday, I hired a cleaning expert to clean my entire home. He informed me that you should not soak your wooden blinds, scrub them hard, use strong chemicals, or dump tonnes of water on them. Too much moisture can make real wood expand, twist out of shape, or mess up the finish.

To keep them in good shape, dust your blinds often so grime doesn't pile up. If you have got faux wood blinds instead of the real wood, check what the manufacturer says about the cleaning guidelines since faux wood usually handles moisture way better. I hope this helps.
