How to Clean Up Flooded Bathroom?
Here are the steps I followed to clean up my flooded bathroom.
Safety first! I immediately went to the circuit breaker and turned off the power to the bathroom. Water and electricity don’t mix.
I grabbed some old towels and a mop to soak up as much water as possible. If you have a wet/dry vacuum, use it—it makes the job quicker. For smaller puddles, newspapers can also work.
Any rugs, toiletries, or small furniture got moved to a dry area. This helps avoid further water damage and gives you space to work.
After the water was out, I mixed 1 cup of bleach with a gallon of water and scrubbed the entire area. This kills germs and prevents mold. Ensure to rinse with clean water afterward.
I opened the windows, turned on the fan, and used a dehumidifier to dry out the bathroom. Don’t skip this—it’s crucial to avoid mold or mildew.
I checked behind the sink, under the cabinet, and even under the tiles to ensure no water was trapped. These areas can cause trouble later if ignored.
If the flooding was severe, take pictures and contact your insurance company. Keeping records helps with claims.
If there is severe flooding, you better take professional help. I hope you understand how to clean flooded bathroom.
