To clean a plastic kitchen exhaust fan, you must boil baking soda and dishwashing soap in a pan. When I recently went to my parents' house, I saw that our kitchen's plastic exhaust fan was not performing properly. It was because of the grease and dust accumulation. I wanted to get it cleaned without harming the plastic blades. So, I researched how to clean plastic exhaust fan. Here is what I found on YouTube Shorts.
How to Clean a Kitchen Exhaust Fan Properly?
Disconnect the exhaust fan from its power supply.
Remove the fan mesh from any levers that hold it in place.
Use a cloth to wipe away any loosely adhered dust.
Immerse the fan mesh in a big container of warm water for approximately 5 minutes.
In a pan, put baking soda and dish soap to a boil.
Pour 1 cup of cleaning solution into the container containing the fan mesh.
Let it settle for 15 to 30 minutes. Rub the mesh with a soft brush.
Wash the mesh in hot water and then wipe it with a dry cloth. Allow the mesh to air dry for a further 2 hours.
Loosen the screws holding the motor in place.
Wet a sponge with the solution and wipe the grease from the fan blades.
Allow the exhaust fan to dry out for 2 hours.
Reinstall the fan mesh.
Finally, plug the unit back in and use it as usual.
These are the basic plastic exhaust fan cleaning steps I came across. As a few steps were out of my knowledge, I ended up hiring a professional.
