I started out by gathering all my supplies: baking soda, white vinegar, a microfiber cloth, and a little brush (an old toothbrush would work great).
I then started with the cleaning process by adding a cup of white vinegar to a bowl of warm water and gently cleaned the overflow hole by dipping the toothbrush into the liquid. The acidity of the vinegar helped in removing any dirt or accumulation.
After the toothbrush had cleaned the major dirt, I directly sprinkled some baking soda into the opening of the overflow.
With the vinegar, this made a fizzing reaction that really cleaned and disinfected the overflow hole. I left it there for roughly ten minutes so the mixture could do its magic on any tough grime and dirt.
The fizzing stopped, so I got the toothbrush out once more and gave the area a really good cleaning by rubbing.
Most of the gunk had been released and loosened by the vinegar and baking soda mixture, making cleaning much easier.
To get rid of any leftover liquids or mixtures, I gave the overflow hole a quick rinse in warm water.
Then, finally, I used a microfiber towel to clean the surrounding area and get rid of any spills or drips.
I also understood that everyday maintenance would really help in preventing any such buildup from happening so that the hole can be cleaned more easily in the future.
