A few weeks back, I accidentally dropped a spoon of cooking oil on my upholstered dining chair as I was rushing to the table with a hot pan. I had an idea about how to clean oil from upholstery using cornstarch. I just had to sprinkle cornflour onto the oil. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes, so that it can absorb the oil, and then I just vacuumed it. Trust me, this hack really worked in my case.

How to Get Oil Out of Upholstery?

Apart from the cornstarch method, I am aware of 2 other methods which are like:

Baking Soda Method

Sprinkle baking soda on the oil. After letting it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, give it a quick brushing. Repeat as necessary after vacuuming the leftover baking soda.

Vodka Method

Oil stains can be removed from carpets and upholsteries with alcohol. Lightly mist the stain with vodka and pat dry. Any leftover alcohol can then be removed by blotting with a moist cloth. This is a trick you might need to do several times.

I hope these DIY tricks would actually help you with removing oil from your upholstery.
