I usually clean my chimney using baking soda. The steps that I follow are;

  1. Put three teaspoons of baking soda in a bowl.

  2. Mix it with a little warm water. It should be a thick substance that resembles slurry.

  3. Let the chimney plates sit for 40 to 45 minutes after applying this paste all over them.

  4. Now thoroughly clean each plate with a cleaning scrub.

Grease can be removed using baking soda, and the chimney plates can be thoroughly cleaned by scrubbing.
