Summary
To match dining room woodwork with a modern modular kitchen, focus on similar colours, finishes, materials, and textures. Use matching or complementary laminates for crockery units and wall panels. Choose storage based on the dining area size, such as slim or wall-mounted units for smaller spaces. Matching handles, lighting, and décor can create a coordinated overall look.

Recently, I bought a 3 BHK house and started planning the interior work for my flat. Since my dining area is close to the modular kitchen, I wanted both spaces to have a similar look. I discussed this with my interior designer, who explained how I could choose dining room woodwork that matches my modern modular kitchen.

How can I Choose Dining Room Wood work Designs that Match My Modern Modular Kitchen?

  • My interior designer first suggested that I focus on the colour and finish.

    • He explained that if my modular kitchen has a wooden, white, or neutral finish, I can use a similar shade for the dining room woodwork.

    • A matching colour palette can make both areas look connected without making them look exactly the same.

  • He also recommended choosing similar materials and textures.

    • For example, if the kitchen cabinets have a wood-textured laminate, I can use the same or a complementary laminate for the crockery unit or dining wall panel.

    • He suggested adding a slightly different texture or accent colour to create some variation.

  • For storage, my interior designer suggested adding a crockery unit or dining cabinet.

    • This can be used to store plates, glasses, serving dishes, and other dining essentials.

    • He advised me to select a design that complements the kitchen cabinets rather than choosing a completely different style.

  • He also considered the size of my dining area.

    • For a smaller space, he recommended a slim crockery unit or wall-mounted storage to avoid making the area feel crowded.

    • If there is more space, a full-height cabinet or decorative wooden wall panel can be considered.

  • Finally, he suggested matching the lighting, handles, and decorative elements with the modular kitchen. According to him, these small details can make the entire kitchen and dining area look more coordinated.

Based on his suggestions, I realised that good dining room woodwork should complement the modular kitchen while still giving the dining area its own identity.
