How to Change Fridge Filter?

My fridge started to smell bad, and the pressure of the dispenser also reduced a lot. Besides these, the ice maker was relatively slow in making the ice, and it tasted weird. So, I called an Electrician from NoBroker to get it fixed. Right after opening the fridge, he told me the water filter needed replacing. I asked him how to change water filter in fridge. 

He asked me to notice how he does it and ask him questions if was unsure of what he was doing. Here is what he did. 

How To Replace Water Filter In Fridge?

• He looked around the fridge first to find the location of the filter. 

• Following this, he removed the lid of the filter, turned it counterclockwise, and slid it out. 

• After that, he slid in the new filter and turned it clockwise to attach it. 

• He closed the lid after this and reset the filter indicator. 

• Lastly, he flushed the new filter to complete the installation process. 

When he was done, I asked him why did he flush the new filter? He explained that most new filters contain excess carbon particles, which need to be removed. The only way to remove them is to flush them using 3 to 5 gallons of water after installation. And that is how to change water filter in fridge.

• Locate the Filter:

The refrigerator filter is typically found inside the fridge compartment, either in the upper rear or the lower front.

• Switch Off the Water Supply: 

I switch off the water supply before changing the filter to avoid leaks and spills.

• Remove the Old Filter:

I carefully remove the old filter by giving it an anticlockwise twist.

• Installing the New Filter:

After placing it in the housing, I give it a clockwise twist to keep it in place.

• Flush the Filter:

Run a few litres of water through the dispenser to thoroughly flush the filter of any loose carbon particles.
