How to build a farm house?

The urban investors who look for a quiet and peaceful break from the busy day to day city life have adapted to a new trend of building a farmhouse. For someone like me who is from Delhi, I understand this urge and I have myself seen people building farmhouses here, especially in and around chattarpur area. I have a friend and his family owns one there so I asked him out of curiosity how to build a farm house and what is the minimum land required for farm house (just in case, I think of building one someday). He said that his father had actually talked to him about it and we discussed things at length. 

So, he told me that his family’s farmhouse is built on 3 acre land (thanks to his forefathers that they bought the land). But in Delhi, the minimum land required for farm house is 1 acre. Earlier DDA had mentioned that it should be on a minimum land area of 2.5 acres.

Of course, I had to know this too. I have seen pictures from Salman Khan’s farm house honestly and they are so fascinating. I asked my friend what are farmhouse requirements. He said it depends on what you really want. Some people like it old school but some want a modern touch. 

His farmhouse is a mix of both. His family hired a civil engineer, an architect and a designer to chalk out details. The family set a budget and shared their requirements with all the three hired parties. I see they now have a modular kitchen but they also have an outdoor area where they have set up tandoors. They have huge rooms with lush green views. They also have a stable area where they have cows, buffalo and goats. There are many other things including state of the art bathrooms, garden area for relaxation, a gym, and much more.

I was told that the architect and designer worked together to make a plan and then civil engineer stepped in with his expertise to take over and make everything possible.

Overall, he said they had spent around Rs. 1.5 crores back in 2012.
