How to make double winder staircase design?
A single winding consists of three treads that turn 90 degrees in a corner. But Double winders have two threads that turn at an acute angle. As per the building guidelines, the tread must be 6 inches wide at the narrow end and at least 9 inches wide at the point and at least 12 inches wide from the narrow end.
Take 2/10 inch stock cut attached by 2 ½ inch wood screws and metal joist hangers to construct the landing frames. Nail them to wall studs to secure.
Place the ply deck in place and strengthen joints along with 2 ½ inch wood screws.
To construct the frame of the winders use 2 x 10-inch stock. Use glue on the plywood and ring-shank nails to secure it.
Strengthen the joints by attaching nails to the winder’s front side.
Cut along the riser and tread using a circular saw. You can also use a hand saw for this job.
Stringers and the landing headers should be anchored with metal framing.
Cut the riser and tread from ¾-inch sheets of plywood after measuring it. Join the treads and stringers with glue.
For the final look, finish the staircase.
