My very close friend is from Chennai and he recently lost his father. I rushed to him because I knew how difficult it would be for him. I wanted to make sure to help him out in every possible way. When I was there, Amma kept pestering him to get name changed on the electricity bill. When we enquired about the process for the same, we got to know that he will have to get varisu certificate. We searched if the process could be fulfilled online and thankfully, we were able to get it. I am going to tell you how to get varisu certificate in Chennai online. 

I helped my friend out and here are the steps we followed for how to apply Varisu certificate in TamilNadu online.

• Visit the TNeGA website

• On the right hand side, you will see the registration window, enter name district, taluk, mobile number, aadhar number, etc. 

• After registration, go to the link to apply for legal heir certificate online and fill in the details such as name of the deceased, your name, relation, details of the deceased’s demise, etc.

• Taluk or Tehsildar officers process your application and carefully check your claims. After ensuring that there is no discrepancy, the application gets approved and varisu certificate is sent by post. 

• Death certificate of deceased

• Government approved ID card (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, etc.)

• Ration card

• Proof of Residence of deceased

• Marriage proof/ birth certificate (whichever is applicable)
