To find how much wallpaper do I need for a 10x12 room, measure each wall and add the lengths together. Let’s understand this with an example.

• A room that is 10 feet by 12 feet has two walls that are 10 feet long and two walls that are 12 feet long. Add these lengths to get the perimeter of the room. 

  • 10 + 10 + 12 + 12 = 44 feet.  So, the total distance around the room is 44 feet.

• Next, measure the height of the wall. Many rooms are about 8 feet high. Multiply the perimeter by the wall height to find the total wall area. 

  • 44 × 8 = 352 square feet. This means the walls cover about 352 square feet.

• Now, remove areas that do not need wallpaper. For example, subtract space for doors and windows. A single door takes about 20 square feet. 

• A small window takes about 10 square feet. If the room has one door and one window, subtract 30 square feet from 352.

  • 352 − 30 = 322 square feet.

• Next, check the size of one roll of wallpaper. A roll that measures 52 cm by 10 m usually covers about 56 square feet.

• Divide the wall area by the coverage of one roll.

  • 322 ÷ 56 = 5.75. You cannot buy part of a roll, so round the number up. You will need 6 rolls.

• It is also wise to allow extra material for cutting and waste. Add about 5 percent more wallpaper.

So, for a 10 × 12 room with standard wall height and one door and one window, you will need about 6 to 7 rolls of wallpaper.

Before availing the renovation service for my 10x12 room, I researched how much wallpaper do I need for a 10x12 room. I discovered that to find out the required wallpaper roll, I need to first calculate the total square footage of walls that would be covered in wallpaper. Since windows and doors are not generally wallpaper, you can minus the square footage from the total to get the exact rolls.

How much Wallpaper is Needed for a 10x12 Room?

To find out the required wallpaper of a 10x12 room, you need to follow the below calculation process:

• The length of the walls that would be wallpapered should be measured in feet (which is 10 feet here). 

• The total width of the wall has to be measured (here, it is 12 feet). 

The product of 2 with the sum of height and total length gives the perimeter of the room. So, it will be 2(10+12) = 44 feet 

• Now, let the walls be 8 feet in height then the total area of the wall will be 8x44 =352 square feet. 

You have to divide the square footage of your walls by one roll to understand the total number of rolls you will need. 

In our case, one roll covers a total of 30 square feet so we needed 352/30 =11.7 rolls. When rounding off it will come up to 12 rolls.

You should always keep extra rolls in case any errors are made or if the rolls suffer accidental damage. I hope this example gave you a clear idea as to how much wallpaper would be required for a 10x12 room.
