What is the Cost of Putty Per Square Foot in India?

Here are the factors influencing the wall putty rate or lappam price.

Area:

To calculate the putty rate per sq ft, you will need to calculate the area of the wall first. Suppose

• Height of the wall = 10ft

• Length of the wall = 16 ft

• Area = (length * Height) = 16*10 = 160

Material Quantity:

Next, you have to calculate the material quantity. For example, suppose you are using Asian wall care putty. The coverage area mentioned by the brand for 2 coats is 10 - 15 sq ft./kg.

So the average of these coverage areas will be = 12.5 sq ft/ kg

• Total wall putty consumption = [total wall area ÷ coverage area in sq ft.]

•  = [ 160 sq ft. ÷ 12.5 sq ft.]

•  = 12.80 kg.

Labour Rate:

The final step is to calculate the wall putty labour rate.

The labour rate to apply 2 coats of wall putty is generally between Rs 3 to Rs 5 per sq ft

• Let's take Rs 4/ sq ft as the average cost

• So labour cost =  [ total wall area × labour rate / sq ft.]

• = [ 160 sq ft. × 4/- ]

• = Rs. 640

So the total cost will be 

• Wall care putty = 12.80 * 21 (approximate putty rate) = Rs 268.80

• Extra miscellaneous cost = Rs 50 

• Total Material cost = Rs 334.74

• 5% of material cost let’s say go to waste = Rs 15.94

• Material cost = Rs 318

• Labour cost = Rs 640

• So the total cost is Rs 974

The putty cost per square foot will be then 

• = [ Total cost  ÷ area of the wall ]

• = [ INR 974.74/- ÷ 160 sq ft. ]

• = INR 6.09 / sq ft.

Now, this is just a basic list to help you get an idea. To get the approximate cost, you must input your actual numbers or rates and then calculate them as per the formulas I mentioned above.

The following processes have been taken in order to determine the price, quantity, and material estimation for wall putty:

• Area = 2000 square feet

• Wall putty coverage = 14 square feet per kilogramme for two coats.

• Needed wall putty: 2000/14 = 143 kg

• One bag of wall putty weighs 40 kg, and since 143 kg is equal to 143/40 kg, 3.58 bags of wall putty are required.

• One bag of wall putty costs 800 Rupees.

• The cost of the estimate and the wall putty material is 800 x 3.58 = 2864 Rupees.

• Consider the labour expense of around Rs. 2 per square foot for two coatings of wall putty.

• Cost of labour: 2000 x 2 = 4000 Rupees

• Wall putty's estimated cost is equal to its material cost plus labour costs.

• Installation of wall putty costs 2864 + 4,000 = 6864 Rupees for 2000 square feet, and one square foot costs 6864/2000 = 3.5 Rupees.
