While purchasing my first property I had no idea how to measure a room properly so my father helped me measure the room. I had a 12x16 room so I will share with you how many square feet are in a 12x16 room.

How to measure a room properly?
While measuring the room you should remove all the furniture from the room you want to measure.
Ensure that no object will hinder the measurement in the way.
Ensure that the tape you are using the tap you are using is straight and not bent.
You can keep your mobile phone handy to note down the measurements.
Measure the opposite walls by repeating the process and then find the distance between the wall to determine the length and breadth of the room.
The formula to measure a room is :
Length Breadth/Width = Square Footage
So to understand how many square feet are in a 12x16 room let's assume:
16 ft is the length of the room and the breath of the room is 12 ft.
So the length and breadth of the room are 16 by 12 feet.
To know the square feet we need to calculate both the numbers (LxW)
So, 12 x 16 = 192 sq.ft.
