How to calculate bricks per square foot?
Generally, the size of the brick is 9 inches. Based on this let us look at how many bricks per square foot.
The given measurement includes:
9"x4.5"x3"Brick wall's area= 1sq.ft
Cement mortar's thickness= 0.5"
The Brick wall's thickness= 9"
To calculate the brick per sq. ft
We must include the mortar's thickness in Indian brick size.
We should calculate the volume of one brick along with the mortal.
Then we should measure the volume of the brick wall
Then we must measure the number of bricks by dividing the wall's volume by the volume of one brick along with the mortar.
Therefore the total number of brick in 1 sq.ft is:

Size of a brick including mortar9″×4.5″×3″ brick size
=(9″+0.5″)×(4.5″+0.5″)×(3″+0.5″)
9.5″×5″×3.5″ brick size including mortar.

The volume of a brick including mortar:9.5″×5″×3.5″ =166.25 cubic inch

Brick wall's volume:Area × brick wall's thickness
=1 sq.ft ×9″ (1sq.ft =144 square inch)
= 144″×9″ =1296 cubic inch

Amount of bricks= Brick wall's volume/ one brick wall's volume including mortarAmount of bricks= 1296/166.25 =7.8 nos
If we believe that 10% bricks is damaged then the number becomes 0.78
We can add up the total number now 7.8+ 0.78= 8.58.
By rounding up the number of bricks per sq. ft becomes 9.
