Hey,

HRA exemption is calculated on the basis of where you live.

For a metro city, 50% of your salary is eligible for HRA deduction.

For a non-metro city, 40% of your salary is eligible for HRA deduction.

Usually, the parameter used for calculator is  10% of your basic pay minus the total rent you pay
