• Using the guideline of 1/3 to 1/2, the foundation depth for this building might be estimated between 15 and 22.5 feet (4.6 and 6.9 metres).

• The specific soil conditions of the construction site are crucial in determining the foundation depth. 

For instance, if the soil is stable and has a high bearing capacity, the foundation might be on the shallower end of the range. The foundation of the building gives it strength. If the foundation is weak then the building might face damage in a few years. If the foundation is strong then the building will survive longer. The depth of a foundation depends on the ground conditions & soil type where construction is happening. Foundation is constructed according to the strata that are needed for complete bearing capacity adopted for the design of footing.

For a 3-storey building, you will need to have a 7 feet-deep foundation. In case the bearing capacity of the soil and depth of the adjacent foundation is unusual then the depth changes. For a 3-storey (G+2) house, using standard 9″ thick walls, it is recommended the minimum size of the Foundation for footing should be 5'× 5'× 5′ (1.5m x 1.5m×1.5m) with respect to length, breadth and depth.

For a four-storey building, a 6 feet (1.8m) deep foundation is needed. 

For a five-storey building, a 7 feet (2.1m) deep foundation is needed. I am making the calculation keeping in mind the depth where the desired founding stratum is available.
