We own a property in Bangalore. Before renting it out, I was planning to get landlord insurance. However, one question that keeps coming to my mind is “Do I need contents insurance as a landlord?” One of my friends who recently rented out his property helped me with the same.
My friend said furniture, appliances, electronics, and other contents of the rental property are covered by content insurance, which is a subset of landlord insurance. The cost of replacing the products will usually be covered by the insurance in the event of a theft, fire, or other damage.
Hence to answer my question, “Do landlords have to have contents insurance?” My friend said that landlords who rent out their furnished properties should particularly have this kind of insurance.
My friend suggested that I opt for landlord insurance, and take contents insurance as an add on coverage.
Having landlord insurance will provide a total piece of mind because it will protect against any hazards associated with renting out property.
