Being an environmentally friendly person, I was inclined in reusing the AC water in inverter batteries. As it comes from atmospheric water vapour, contains no additional salts, and is widely accessible. However, recently when I researched: Can AC water be used in inverter battery? I found that AC condensate water may initially appear to be a useful and affordable alternative to distilled water. Despite its seeming cleanliness, it is not advised to use AC water in an inverter battery because of potential hazards.

Can We Put AC Water in Inverter Battery?

Despite the absence of obvious contaminants, AC water may nevertheless contain:

  1. Ions and heavy metals from AC coils

  2. microbiological contamination that develops within the apparatus

  3. Unbalanced pH that can interfere with battery chemistry

These impurities can shorten the battery's lifespan by corroding the plates. Pure distilled or demineralised water is necessary for inverter batteries to operate at their best. Anything else could result in regular maintenance and long term damage.

Instead, I found alternatives like: watering plants, wiping floors, or washing cars with AC water. So I learned that it is best to use battery grade water that is advised by the manufacturer for inverter batteries.

I learned which water is used in inverter battery a few months ago when my father asked me to change our inverter’s water. I thought that we could use AC water or plain water for the inverter too. My father told me that inverter batteries can be charged with AC water but it is, however, not suggested to be used. Let me tell you why.

Can AC Water be Used in Battery?

My father told me that usually, experts advise against using this water in an inverter battery, since the water solution in AC water contains certain contaminants or ions. So, the battery may be harmed by this kind of dirty fluid. The battery's potential for inventiveness must also be taken into consideration.

Why AC Water is Not Suitable for Use in Inverter Batteries?

I am sure by now you know can AC water be used for inverter battery or not. But let me break down the reason why AC water isn’t suggested for Inverter batteries.

  • Because plain water, or AC water, lacks the compounds needed to function as an electrolyte solution, it is not appropriate for use in inverter batteries.

  • An electrolyte solution is a concoction of chemicals and water that is essential to the correct operation of an inverter battery.

  • The electrolyte solution keeps the battery functioning and aids in the conductivity of energy.

  • Sulfuric acid and water are usually combined to create the electrolyte solution used in inverter batteries.

  • Since sulfuric acid is absent from AC water, it cannot serve as an electrolyte solution for lead-acid batteries.

  • An inverter battery's electrolyte solution may be diluted by utilising AC water, which could lower the battery's capacity to hold a charge and perhaps lead to its total failure.

So, if someone asks you “can I use AC water in battery?”, you know what to tell them.

AC generates a good quantity of water when it is running. This water drains out from the exterior part of the house. This water comes from condensate water made from the evaporation coil of the air conditioner or its condensates from the gas surface system during the heating months. Since Ac produces so much water, you may think of restoring it and you may wonder can we use ac water in inverter battery. I will share my verdict on this one.

Can AC water be used in inverter battery?

We should understand that distilled water is used in batteries. And there has to be an electrolyte level of ⅛’’  below the bottom of the fill well to run the inverter batteries. So, there are requirements for inverter batteries to work. Distilled water is used because it is free from additional minerals so it is good for inverter batteries. Adding chemicals and minerals can decrease the life of batteries. Now, let me come to AC water.

AC water can be used in inverter batteries. But this doesn't mean that it should be used. Although AC produces distilled water, it can have impurities or ions. Therefore, experts tell us to avoid using AC water in batteries. I hope this answers your query:

can we use AC water in inverter battery.
