Can we keep mirror in pooja room?

Hello Samar ji. We were shifting into a new home and were setting up the pooja room. I thought of placing a mirror in the room, but before I did that, I just asked my mother whether can we keep mirror in pooja room as she has a good knowledge of Vastu. She told me strictly not to keep the mirror in the pooja room. She said the reflection of idols in the mirror is believed to disrupt the positive energy and develop a negative influence.

Why No Mirror in Pooja Room Vastu?

1. Mirrors reflect everything and this includes energy. So, a mirror in your pooja room can reflect and spread the spiritual energies coming from the idols. This can affect the positive vibrations that a pooja room is supposed to give off.

2. Another reason is that mirrors are known as a symbol of vanity and materialism, as they primarily reflect one’s outer self. So, their presence in front of a pooja room may symbolically introduce worldly distractions into a space which is meant for spiritual connection.

Where to place God in home according to Vaastu

Hello. I recently asked my friend, who is pursuing a Vastu course, where to place mirror in pooja room Vastu after renovations of my property. He informed me that a mirror should not be inside a pooja room. When I questioned why, he replied that it would bring negativity into the home. 

According to him, this is the place where you need a very peaceful and serene atmosphere in order to sit and meditate because the mirror greatly magnifies the surrounding energy. 

Moreover, my uncle, a Vastu expert, informed me that it is fortunate to place a mirror in a pooja room since it symbolises a fresh start. He said that we have seen mirrors in temples because they reflect positive energy from the four corners of the temples. But, he said it is best to avoid placing mirrors in pooja room or at the entrance of homes.

He informed me of the following reasons for not placing a mirror in front of god:

• Worshippers may find it difficult to concentrate on their prayers and meditations.

• You may lose focus and spiritual connection if you look at your reflection in the mirror instead of the gods and holy symbols.

• Placing a mirror in the pooja room could reflect evil energy.
