Summary
Yes, you can do interior work before Griha Pravesh, and it is preferable to complete major fixed interiors beforehand. Finish painting, false ceilings, wardrobes, electrical fixtures, modular kitchen, plumbing work, and floor cleaning before the ceremony to reduce dust and mess. Movable furniture, appliances, and personal belongings can be brought in on the day of Griha Pravesh, while decor work can be completed later.

Yes, you can do interior work before Griha Pravesh, and it is preferable to finish major interior work before the ceremony. Painting, closets, modular kitchens, and electrical fixtures should all be completed before moving in to reduce dust, noise, and mess. Before doing the Griha Pravesh puja at my new home, I wanted to get the major interiors done first. So I asked my pandit ji, can we do interior before Griha Pravesh, to which he replied yes.

What Interior Work Should Be Done Before Griha Pravesh?

Before your contractors begin significant interior work, you can perform a basic Bhoomi Pujan or Ganapati Pujan on the project site to remove obstructions and bless the space.

  1. Painting: Finish the wall painting and allow it to dry thoroughly.

  2. False ceiling: Finish ceiling work before the final cleaning.

  3. Wardrobes: Finish the built-in storage units and closets.

  4. Electrical work: Install fans, lights, switches, and other fixtures.

  5. Modular kitchen: Install the kitchen and check all of the fittings.

  6. Plumbing work: Inspect bathroom fixtures, sinks, and faucets before the puja.

  7. Cleaning the floor: Get rid of dust, paint stains, and construction debris.

One thing you should keep in mind: although fixed interiors should be fully installed, movable furniture (such as beds, sofas, and dining tables), appliances, and personal clothing should not be moved inside until the day of the Griha Pravesh.

Can Interior Work Continue After Griha Pravesh?

Yes, a few interior jobs can resume after Griha Pravesh. For example, curtains, artwork, loose furniture, and other decor can all be added later. However, it is best to avoid extensive drilling, painting, and dusty activity just after moving in.

After completing these tasks, give the house one last thorough cleaning a day before the housewarming ceremony. As a result, the house is more cosy and prepared for the event. I hope this helps.
