Earlier, regardless of whether it's day or night, I always clean my pooja room when I notice dust and grime there. But after marriage, when I asked my mother, can we clean pooja room at night, she said no. She believes that since night is seen as a time of rest and is not the best time for auspicious actions, Hindu traditions forbid sweeping or cleaning the pooja room after sunset.

Can We Clean Mandir in the Night?

Although it's always a good idea to clean your pooja room, some religions advise against doing so at night, especially when it comes to sweeping. My mother further told me cleaning the mandir during the day is ideal because it attracts good fortune and pleasant energy. She further said.

  1. Cleaning at night is frequently permitted during festival preparations or special rites.

  2. Dusting, organizing, and wiping surfaces are examples of light cleaning. This is acceptable.

  3. If you are cleaning your pooja room at night, do it with courtesy. You must light a lamp or burning incense and refrain from taking down any idols or symbols that are considered sacred.

Right now, I clean the pooja room during the daytime, either on Thursday or Friday. These are auspicious days for cleaning the mandir.

Can I clean pooja room at night?

Pooja room is considered the most sacred space in the home and is believed to be the source of positive energy. Keeping it clean and organised is crucial for promoting peace and prosperity in the home.

It is generally advised that the pooja room should not be cleaned at night. According to religious belief, Gods and Goddesses sleep during the night. If the room is cleaned after dusk, they will be disturbed. It is assumed that disturbing Gods will lead to loss of money and prosperity.

I haven't found a scientific reason behind not cleaning the pooja room at night. I would advise you to keep your own research and clean the room at a suitable time. It is important to remove any offerings, such as flowers or food, that may have been made during the day. Dry cloth can be used to polish the surface of the pooja table, idols or picture frames  and other items, ensuring that they are free of any smudges or ash from diyas, incense sticks.

I hope my answer on can we clean pooja room at night helps you out.
