Hi Manav. If you are confused whether can I use vacuum cleaner to clean air conditioner. So using a vacuum cleaner is good for the dry, dusty stage of cleaning before you start using water.

  1. Instead of immediately running your mesh filters under a tap. which can turn dust into mud, use the soft brush attachment of your vacuum to suck away the thick layer of lint.

  2. After removing the filters, you will be able to see the fins which are delicate. Use the vacuum brush to gently move up and down (never side to side, or you’ll bend the fins). A vacuum is much safer here than a stiff brush.

  3. If you look inside the vent where the air comes out, you'll see a cylindrical fan. Dust often settles here, causing the AC to shake or make noise. A crevice tool on your vacuum can suck out those dust bunnies without you having to take the whole unit apart.

I hope this will be helpful for you.

Yes, you can use a vacuum cleaner for AC cleaning. We have a couple of ACs in our house. Since we live in the northern side of India, the house gets really warm on most days and AC is used frequently. So, I take up the cleaning and maintenance part regularly using the vacuum cleaner. I clean the vents using it. Let me share more about this with you below.

Cleaning AC with Vacuum Cleaner

You can use a vacuum cleaner with brush attachments to clean the vents. You can reach corners and difficult areas where dust settles. But yes, you can’t clean everything using the vacuum cleaner, so be careful when using the appliance to clean your AC.

Your vacuum cleaner can be a great tool to remove dirt and debris from the AC unit. Use one to clean the air filters, fan blades and AC coils.

Apart from this, you can also make a solution to clean the components. I use vinegar, baking soda and water. Let me share the process:

  1. Mix 1 cup of vinegar and ½ cup of baking soda in about 4 litres of water.

  2. Dip a soft microfiber cloth into the solution and wipe the filters, coils and the drain pan with it.

  3. Let the components air dry or you can wipe them using a clean dry cloth.

So, that is all I have to share with you. I hope this answers your query: Can I use vacuum cleaner to clean air conditioner.
