Do you long for a stylish entertainment centre but worry your living space won't accommodate it? Fear not! In interior design, maximising space is a key element, and this is especially true when crafting a functional and beautiful living area in a smaller home or apartment. Here comes the idea of small TV unit design, a brilliant solution for those who crave a designated spot for their television without sacrificing precious square footage.

But the question arises: what are these designs? Which one should you choose? And where can you find these TV unit designs? Do not worry. This article is here to help. This article will explore the top 12 small TV unit design options to help you find the perfect design for your space, answering your questions.

Top 12 Small TV Unit Design Ideas

The top 12 small TV unit design ideas are as follows:

1. Floating TV Unit

floating tv unit design
floating tv unit design

The floating TV unit is a contemporary design solution that optimises space utilisation and imparts a minimalist aesthetic to your living room. Its defining feature is the absence of a traditional floor-standing cabinet.

Instead, the TV and accompanying devices are mounted on a sleek shelf that appears to 'float' on the wall. This small TV unit design approach saves floor space and elevates the room's visual appeal by creating a sense of lightness and openness.

The construction materials for the shelf can vary, including tempered glass, metal, or sturdy wood. Each offers a unique look and feel. Tempered glass and metal shelves provide a modern, industrial vibe, while wooden shelves offer a warm, classic appeal.

The shelf is securely affixed to the wall, ensuring it can safely hold the TV's weight and any additional devices. Cable management can be seamlessly integrated into the small TV unit design for the living room, keeping unsightly cords hidden and maintaining the clean, uncluttered look that is the hallmark of the floating TV unit design.

This design is versatile and can be customised to fit any wall size or room layout, making it an excellent choice for small apartments or rooms where space is at a premium. A floating TV unit made of laminate or MDF, priced between ₹25,000 - ₹35,000.

2. Corner TV Unit

A corner TV unit is an intelligent solution for small spaces or irregular room layouts. It's designed to fit into a corner, maximising the use of space and creating a cosy viewing area. This compact small TV unit design doesn't compromise functionality, often including storage options such as shelves or cabinets. These can house media equipment, DVDs, or decorative items, keeping the area tidy and clutter-free.

The materials used for corner TV units can significantly influence their look and feel. Wood offers a classic, timeless appeal and is known for its durability. Laminate units are a cost-effective option that offers a wide range of finishes, from glossy modern looks to faux-wood effects.

MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) is another popular choice due to its smooth surface and versatility. It can be painted or veneered for a variety of looks. Regardless of the material, a well-designed corner TV unit can enhance the aesthetics of your room while providing a functional media centre. Such a unit can cost around ₹15,000 - ₹45,000.

3. Minimalist TV Stand

A minimalist TV stand is characterised by its clean lines and streamlined design, making it an ideal choice for small spaces prone to clutter. This small TV unit design typically lacks unnecessary elements or ornate details, focusing instead on the essentials.

This not only makes the stand visually appealing but also enhances its practicality. The stand is usually low-profile, focusing on the TV and creating a sleek, modern look. Light-coloured wood or painted medium-density fibreboard (MDF) are popular choices because they create a sense of openness and space.

These materials also lend a warm, natural touch to the stand, balancing out the starkness of this minimalist modern small TV unit design. The stand may also feature open shelving or concealed storage, providing a place to store media equipment and other essentials while maintaining a clutter-free appearance.  Such units can cost around ₹20,000 - ₹50,000.

4. Wall-Mounted Media Console

A wall-mounted media console is a popular choice in modern home design. It’s appreciated for its sleek and modern appearance, which adds a touch of elegance to any room. This small TV unit design is typically minimalistic, with a focus on clean lines and uncluttered surfaces.

The practicality of a wall-mounted media console lies in its ability to provide additional storage space. It can house various electronics such as gaming consoles, DVD players, and sound systems, keeping them organised and easily accessible.

The choice of materials can vary, with wood and metal being popular options. Wood offers warmth and a classic appeal, while metal lends a more industrial and modern vibe. Combining both can create an exciting contrast, adding to the design's visual appeal. A wall-mounted media console with glass or acrylic shelves can cost around ₹26,000 - ₹55,000.

5. Open Shelving Unit

tv unit designs for open shelving unit

A dual-purpose TV unit design for a small living room optimises space usage. Open shelves, constructed from either wood or metal, function as a platform for both media components and decorative items. The choice of materials, whether wood or metal, can be harmoniously integrated with the room’s overall decor, enhancing the visual appeal.

The design's key feature is its visually open feel, which keeps the space airy and uncluttered. This is particularly beneficial in smaller rooms where space is at a premium. The open shelving unit allows for easy access and visibility of the media components, making it a practical choice.

Furthermore, the arrangement of decorative items alongside the media components can be changed per the user's preference, offering flexibility and personalisation. Overall, this small TV unit design with an open shelving unit is a stylish and practical solution for modern homes. For an open shelving unit, preferably constructed from wood or painted MDF, it can cost you around ₹24,000 and ₹48,000.

6. Multi-Functional Storage Unit

A small TV unit design with multi-functional storage capabilities is a versatile piece of furniture that serves multiple purposes. It's a place to mount your television and a storage unit. The integrated storage drawers, shelves, or cabinets provide ample space for storing various items such as books, movies, and games.

This helps keep your living space organised and clutter-free. The materials used for these units can vary, with options including wood, laminate, and MDF, each offering a unique aesthetic appeal and durability.

The design of such a unit is typically sleek and compact to fit into small spaces, yet it doesn't compromise on functionality. The storage compartments can be designed in various configurations to suit individual needs.

For instance, drawers can store small items like remote controls and gaming accessories. At the same time, shelves and cabinets can house more oversized items like books and game consoles. Apart from holding the TV, the top surface can also display decorative items or photo frames.

This multi-functional small TV unit design is a practical solution for small spaces, offering a balance of style and utility. Looking for a multi-functional storage unit made of wood or MDF, featuring drawers and compartments, within a budget of ₹25,000 - ₹42,000.

7. Vintage TV Stand Repurposed

A vintage dresser or sideboard can be creatively transformed into a small TV stand. This not only serves as a functional piece of furniture but also adds a unique charm to your living space. The vintage piece, with its multiple drawers or compartments, offers plenty of storage for your media devices, books, or decor items.

The success of this design lies in choosing a vintage piece that is strong enough to hold the TV and fits well in your space. The top surface should be wide and deep enough for the TV, and the height should be suitable for comfortable viewing. You might need to refurbish or strengthen the vintage piece to ensure it’s stable and durable.

You can customise this design to suit your taste and your room’s decor. You might paint or stain the piece or add special hardware or decorative elements. This design idea shows how to repurpose old furniture into something functional, stylish, and sustainable. The budget for a vintage TV stand repurposed from a dresser or side table can cost around ₹15,000 - ₹20,000.

8. Retro-Inspired TV Stand

A retro-inspired TV stand is characterised by distinctive features that hark back to the mid-century era. The stand's tapered legs, a hallmark of vintage furniture, provide stability while adding an aesthetic appeal. The rounded corners contribute to the retro look and make the stand safer, reducing the risk of injury from sharp edges.

The choice of materials, such as wood or laminate, enhances the stand's classic appeal. These materials are known for their durability and ease of maintenance, making them ideal for everyday use. The colour can be customised according to your preference, allowing the stand to blend in with the rest of the decor or stand out as a statement piece.

Despite its compact size, the stand is designed to hold televisions and related accessories efficiently, making it a practical addition to small spaces. You can craft this design with a budget of ₹28,000 - ₹45,000.

9. Industrial Pipe TV Stand

The industrial pipe TV stand primarily consists of metal pipes, which serve as the stand's skeleton and add a distinct industrial touch to the overall small TV unit design. The pipes are typically finished in a dark tone, such as black or gunmetal grey, to enhance the raw, edgy appeal. Metal pipes also ensure robustness and stability, making them capable of efficiently supporting large-screen TVs.

The wood is often left in its natural state or lightly stained to preserve its rustic touch. The wood adds warmth to the design, balancing the coldness of the metal, and provides ample space for storing media devices, books, or decor items. The cost of an industrial-style TV stand is made from metal pipes, and reclaimed wood shelves can cost around ₹27,000 - ₹42,000.

10. Mid-Century Modern TV Stand

A mid-century modern TV stand is designed to enhance the aesthetics of any room while providing a practical solution for displaying your television. The design is characterised by its minimalist approach, focusing on simplicity and functionality.

The clean lines and uncluttered design elements create a sense of spaciousness, making it an ideal choice for small spaces. The stand typically features a low profile, which helps maintain a clear line of sight to the television, enhancing the viewing experience.

The use of high-quality materials like walnut or teak wood adds a touch of elegance and durability to the stand. These woods are known for their rich grains and warm tones, adding a natural element to the small TV unit design. The tapered legs, a signature feature of mid-century modern design, provide stability and add to the aesthetic appeal with their distinctive shape.

Some designs incorporate storage options like drawers or shelves, offering a practical solution for organising your media accessories. The overall cost of a mid-century modern TV stand is between ₹20,000 and ₹48,000.

11. Scandinavian-Inspired TV Stand

A Scandinavian-inspired TV stand perfectly blends simplicity, functionality, and elegance. This small bedroom TV unit design philosophy is rooted in minimalism, emphasising simple lines and forms. The TV stand is typically made from light-coloured wood, such as pine, beech, or ash.  The light wood not only gives the furniture a warm and inviting look but also complements a variety of colour schemes, making it versatile for different interior styles.

The small TV unit design of the TV stand is uncluttered, with clean lines that give it a modern and sleek appearance. It usually lacks ornate detailing or excessive hardware, adhering to the 'less is more' principle. The stand also features open shelving, closed cabinetry, or a combination of both, providing ample storage space.

Innovative design elements, like cord management systems, enhance the functionality and give the TV stand a neat look. A Scandinavian-inspired TV stand can cost around ₹45,000 - ₹65,000.

The design usually incorporates open shelves for easy access to books and closed compartments for electronics to keep them dust-free. The arrangement of these components can vary based on personal preference and the available space.

My daughter who is studying architecture in college came with me to the HSR center. She was quizzing the consultant about material sustainability—whether the plywood is from certified sources, if the laminates have low VOC emissions, what happens to waste material from the factory. The consultant handled every question and even pulled up their material certification documents. My daughter was impressed. She told me later: 'Appa, this company actually knows their supply chain, not just their design.' When a 20-year-old architecture student validates your choice, you know you've picked right.

Just finished the design phase with NoBroker interiors. I really appreciate the efforts done by our designer Sujendra Shetty. He helped and guided us in all designs we finalised. He was really patient while we took our time to finalise the designs and when we did material reselection. He was proffesional yet friendly and made the design phase smooth for us. We would be starting the production soon and I will update this review on project completion.

Specifically writing about the false ceiling consultation at the center. I didnt know there was so much to know about ceilings! The designer showed us different options—gypsum board, POP, wooden grid, MDF panels—and explained which works best for which room. The living room got a peripheral cove lighting design with warm LEDs, the bedroom got a simple recessed light plan (she said elaborate ceilings in bedrooms can feel oppressive when your lying down, which makes total sense), and the kids room got a small starlight panel. She also planned all the AC routing, curtain pelmet concealment, and speaker cable channels inside the false ceiling so nothing is visible. The ceiling alone transformed how our rooms feel. Also, their false ceiling pricing per sq ft was pretty competitive—I had checked with two separate contractors before.

I am from Kadugodi and was looking for modular furniture solutions for our new apartment. The NoBroker Varthur experience center had an extensive display of TV units, shoe racks, foyer designs, and partition options. The team helped me plan an open kitchen with a breakfast counter that would double as a partition. Creative and practical solutions! Highly satisfied with the visit.

We visited the NoBroker Varthur center for our villa interior project in Sarjapur Road. The design team was fantastic in understanding our preference for a blend of traditional and contemporary styles. They showed us premium material options including solid wood, veneer, and high-gloss acrylic finishes. The TV unit and crockery unit designs on display were stunning. Highly recommended for villa owners!

This review is from a couple who fights about everything haha. I wanted dark colors and modern look, my husband wanted light wood and earthy tones. The designer at Varthur center literally played mediator. She showed us a concept where the common areas (living room, kitchen) use light wooden textures that my husband likes, and the master bedroom uses the darker charcoal tones that I prefer. The kids room got a neutral palette with colorful accents. Everyone happy. She called it 'transitional design' where different zones have different personalities but connected by a common accent color (we chose teal). The 3D walkthrough she made showed exactly how it all flows together. I showed it to 3 friends and they all said it looks like something out of Architectural Digest. OK maybe I'm exaggerating a little but you get the point. We both love it.

The team showed us various options including wooden flooring, vitrified tiles, and designer wall panels. They explained the pros and cons of each option for Bangalore's climate. The combination of textured wall panels with warm lighting they suggested transformed our visualization completely.

We are from Thanisandra and visited the center for our villa interior project. The designer adapted her approach for a larger independent house—didn't just scale up apartment designs. She proposed separate design personalities for ground floor (where guests are entertained—formal, elegant) and first floor (private family spaces—warm, casual). The staircase got under-staircase pull-out storage that holds 30 pairs of shoes. The double-height living room got a dramatic false ceiling with a chandelier recess. The master bedroom got a walk-in closet design instead of a regular wardrobe. Villa interiors need different thinking than apartment interiors and this team clearly has experience with both formats.

I had a great experience with NoBroker Interiors at the HRBR Experience Centre. The entire process was smooth and well-managed. Pradnyan (Designer) did an excellent job in understanding our requirements and providing thoughtful design solutions. Unnav from Sales was very supportive and ensured everything was clearly explained and well-coordinated throughout the process. Hetal also gave a detailed explanation, making it easy for us to understand every aspect. Overall, the team was professional, responsive, and helpful. Looking forward to moving ahead with them!

Something specific about the Horamavu team that I havent seen mentioned in other reviews—they offer a FREE pre-site-assessment before giving you any quotation. An engineer visits your apartment, checks wall conditions for dampness, verifies electrical point locations, measures ceiling height variations (builder flats often have slightly uneven ceilings), checks floor levelness, and documents any structural elements like beams and pillars that affect furniture placement. All this BEFORE you pay a single rupee. This assessment report then becomes the foundation for an accurate design and quotation. Other companies quote based on a floor plan drawing alone without ever seeing the actual site conditions. That's like prescribing medicine without examining the patient.

I am delighted to write this review after completing my VILA interior through NO BROKER Team The production and execution team is very professional and customer friendly in accommodating and matching with our requirements and our dreams of what we want to have it in our home. If I can mention the name then it is certainly Mr. Harsha, Mr. Munish and Mr. Suhail will take away entire credit for the final output This team is far better than their in-house design team who doesn't know much about practical application of what they or could do using a software. They need more experience particularly using the wood and material selection along with final finish with light fittings. Even though there was a mismatch and less expectation from NO BROKER certain team members, The above mentioned team members pulled it together and gave the best satisfactory finish

As a working professional with limited time to manage contractors, the project management aspect is what attracted me. Visited the center with a Pinterest board of 47 saved kitchen images. The consultant didn’t get overwhelmed. She patiently went through each one, identified common elements I was drawn to (handleless cabinets, wooden textures, open shelving), and created a unified design that captured the essence of all those pins. She basically translated my chaotic Pinterest board into a cohesive design. Overall we are very satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish.
