Hey,
If you are a resident of Bangalore and if you’ve been getting very high bill in the past one or two months, we are in the same boat. The electricity regulatory commission approved a 70-paise tariff increase and permitted fuel and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPCA) charges to be levied from July to December, which has resulted in unusually high bills for Karnataka's consumers of electricity prior to the launch of the Gruha Jyoti scheme on June 18.
Due to technological difficulties, the government has postponed from June 15 to June 18 the registration period for the Gruha Jyoti project, which provides free electricity for up to 200 units.
Bescom defended the rise in a statement, claiming that they were recouping arrears and that the increase was a part of the revision that the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) had approved.
