Hello. There are many reasons behind why does fan speed reduces. Major causes include dust buildup, problems with fan parts like the capacitor, motor and wiring. I recently sawthat the fan speed of my room’s fan had reduced, so I called an electrician to inspect, and it was a faulty wiring. He also said that the installation of the fan wasn’t right, which was the issue. Another issue can be a defective speed controller. Let me tell you more about this.

Why Your Fan is Moving slow?

So I listed the main reasons why a fan sees a reduction in its speed overall. You’d have to call an electrician to check what is wrong with it if removing the dust buildup from the fan doesn’t improve its speed. But there are some more reasons:

  1. Old Bearings: Fans get dirty with dust and debris accumulation over time within the ball bearings. This can affect the fan’s speed.

  2. Loose Screws: If there isn’t enough lubrication in a fan’s motor, it can affect its performance as the mechanical components inside the motor start to dry out. This can cause a slowdown of the fan.

You shouldn’t handle the fan’s parts on your own, as it can be dangerous and cause further damage to the fan, as well. This is all. I hope this helps.
