A month ago, I remember the door squeaked as I was slipping out of my room late at night so as not to wake anyone. The other day, I hired a carpenter to fix it. I even asked him, why do door hinges squeak. He said the main reason door hinges squeak is friction between the moving metal components, which is frequently brought on by dirt accumulation, lubrication deficiencies, etc.

Why Do My Door Hinges Squeak?

  1. Lack of Lubrication: Metal-on-metal friction results from the lubricant drying out or wearing off over time. It led to a squeaky sound.

  2. Dust and Dirt: It collects inside the hinge because of the abundance of dust in the air. Every time the door moves, the fine dust makes grinding noises.

  3. Loose or Misaligned Hinges: If the hinge screws are loose or the door is slightly out of alignment, one side is subjected to more pressure. Additionally, creaking is caused by that uneven movement.

In my case, it was because of the lack of lubricant. You must hire a professional to fix it.
