The pandemic has hit each of us really hard but things seem to have gotten better. However, I know for a fact that rent payments can get delayed because we are yet to get back on track completely. I talked to my landlord to allow me sometime to arrange for rent a couple of months back and asked for an extension of the agreement on the same rent per month deal. Thankfully, he agreed to it. He asked me to sign the lease for 2 years though but that was fine by me. You can talk to your landlord and explain your situation, I am sure people understand.
