The major factor in Mumbai for determining the monthly rent is locality. Typically, a 1 BHK flat rent in Central Mumbai will be anywhere between Rs. 25,000 to 35,000 per month. While in North Mumbai, you will find a reasonable 1 BHK flat with rent between Rs. 15,000 to 25,000 per month. As you move towards South Mumbai, the rent increases. Bandra, Santacruz, Juhu and similar places usually rent out 1 BHK for a minimum Rs. 35,000 per month. If you move towards the southernmost tip, that is Colaba, the average rent for 1 BHK is 60,000 per month. This is because the ratio per capita income is high and there are several job opportunities in this area which makes people buy/rent a place near to the office.
You can save a lot on the rent if you wish to stay away from the city like in areas like Thane and Navi Mumbai. Here, you can get 1 BHK with rent between Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 per month.
