The rate of TDS depends on various factors, such as the sale value of the property and the nature of the transaction. It is applicable if the sale value of the property is Rs.50 lakhs or more. The rate of TDS in case of sale of land is 1% of the sale consideration.
It is the duty of the buyer to deduct TDS and pay it using Form 26QB. The buyer should provide a TDS certificate (Form 16B) to the seller as proof of TDS deduction.
