In my new home, I have oak wood floors. They look beautiful, but in areas with water, like kitchens, bathrooms, or entryways, they can get damaged. To protect these spaces, I decided to add tiles while keeping oak in the rest of the home. While searching for what tile goes with oak floors, I found that light-coloured tiles work best, as they match well with the natural warmth of oak.
What Flooring Goes with Oak Floors?
Light-coloured tiles, like beige porcelain or ceramic, can make the kitchen look bigger and more welcoming.
Natural stone tiles, such as travertine or marble, add a nice rustic touch to the space.
Light-coloured hardwood, like maple or birch, gives a smooth flow between rooms and highlights the warmth of oak floors.
Light grey laminate flooring can also offer a good contrast to the oak flooring.
I have decided to install beige porcelain tile as it will complement the look of oak wood. I hope this helps!
