I know searching for a house for rent in Bangalore is an exhausting task. And when you finally find a good property, then dealing with the landlord about rent paid in advance is another challenge. There was an unwritten rule to pay a 10 months advance deposit before. But, now, after the implementation of the Model Tenancy Act, the security deposit to be paid in advance, should:
(a) Not be more than 6 months of rent, in case of non-residential premises, and
(b) Not be more than 2 months of rent, in case of residential premises.
