WBSEDCL follows a slab-based billing system for residential electricity consumption. So, what is WBSEDCL electricity rate? If you use 250 units in a month, your bill is calculated across different slabs.
The first 102 units are charged at Rs. 5.30 per unit
The next 78 units fall under the Rs. 5.97 per-unit slab
The remaining 70 units are billed at Rs. 6.97 per unit.
This tiered structure ensures that charges increase gradually with higher usage.
Apart from energy charges, your monthly bill also includes additional components such as fixed charges, which depend on your connected load in kW or kVA. You may also find government taxes, fuel surcharge, and electricity duty added to the total amount, making the final bill slightly higher than the energy cost alone.
The current rate slabs for WBSEDCL residential users are as follows:
0 to 102 units to Rs. 5.30 per unit.
103 to 180 to Rs. 5.97 per unit.
181 to 300 to Rs. 6.97 per unit.
301 to 600 to Rs. 7.31 per unit.
601 to 900 to Rs. 7.58 per unit.
Hope this helps!

When I was looking into my WBSEDCL electricity rate, I was curious to know how much I’d be paying for my monthly usage. The rate varies, and it’s important to understand how it works. From my research, I found that the latest electricity rate typically starts at Rs. 10 per kWh, depending on usage and the type of connection. For those with higher consumption, the rate could slightly differ, but this gives a rough idea of the cost.
WBSEDCL Electricity Charges 2025
Bhanu has already shared the latest rates, so I am not mentioning it again. I have shared a few details I came across.
Domestic users face lower rates, making it affordable for regular household use.
For commercial, the rate is a bit higher, reflecting the increased demand.
The rates are tiered, meaning your bill could go up if you use a lot of electricity in one month. So, managing your usage can help keep your charges down.
If you’re in a higher slab, you might pay a bit more for extra consumption.
You can also check the latest rate on the
official WBSEDCL Tariff Chart
