• Whether you are choosing Melamine polish or PU polish.

• Before polishing, old, cracked, or uneven veneer may require sanding or small repairs. It would increase labour time and hence, the cost.

For budget-friendly durability, I chose melamine polish for my wooden veneer surfaces. You may choose the expensive option, PU polish, if you desire a luxury-grade shine.

How to Polish Veneer?

Here is a quick method you can follow to polish the veneer.

• Smoothen the veneer sheet with sandpaper. Gently rub the sandpaper in the direction of the grain.

• Use a wood conditioner to absorb stains evenly from the veneer. Let it dry for some time.

• Apply wood stain wax to absorb stains further. Wipe the veneer with a cloth to remove extra stains and solution.

• Apply the polish solution to the veneer using a spray machine.

• Repeat the polishing step several times to find the desired shade and effect.

• PU (polyurethane polish): The price range for PU (polyurethane polish) is Rs 165 to Rs 210. 

But if I tell you honestly, Polish cost is not very expensive. It is the labour charge that makes the whole difference. 

The cost of the polish solution is almost four times lower than that of the labour. If a litre of veneer polishing rate is Rs. 100, the usual cost of labour is Rs. 300.
