As I have been practicing astrology and Vastu Shastra for the last 12 years, I think I will be able to answer your question: What is Vastu Mandal? Vastu Purusha Mandala is a geometric grid or layout that is used as a guide when creating rooms, doors, and other house components. In contrast to Purusha, which means cosmic man or energy, power, or soul, a mandala is a 9 by 9 grid that is square in shape and has 81 pieces. Every grid has a deity associated with it.

What is the Positioning of Different Rooms as Per the Vastu Mandal?

When constructing a building according to Vastu Shastra, the Vastu Purusha Mandala is used. As per the Vastu Mandal:

  1. Pooja room should be in the North East

  2. East is a suitable direction for a bathroom solely used for bathing.

  3. South east for kitchen

  4. Bedroom, storeroom, and office should be located in the South

  5. Study room/children’s room should be located in the West

  6. Living room/guest bedroom/ dining should be located in the North West

  7. The deity of prosperity, Kubera, rules the north, which is a symbol of wealth. The best place to keep cash at home is in the North.

To maximise the positive effects of the sun, wind, and magnetic fields, the Vastu Mandal is oriented in accordance with the cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west. Architects that adhere to the Mandal seek to create structures that support prosperity, well-being, and health.
