There are two types of committees in the Indian Constitution. One is the Standard Committee and the other one is the Ad Hoc Committee. As far as I know, the Ad Hoc Committee is created by the Government for a short period of time and they are dissolved after the completion of the task. So, the tenure actually depends on the task I believe. I hope you find this informative.
