What is the standard size of balcony?After doing some research and visiting a few apartments, I learned that the size of a balcony can vary depending on the location, type of building, and purpose.I found that the standard size of a balcony ranges from 4 feet to 6 feet in width and 7 feet to 10 feet in length in a residential building. The height of the balcony is generally between 7 feet to 10 feet from the floor level.
On the other hand, standard size of balcony in commercial buildings such as hotels and shopping malls ranges from 8 feet to 12 feet in width and 10 feet to 15 feet in length. The height of the balcony is generally between 10 feet to 12 feet from the floor level.
Standard balcony size in an apartment depends on the Building Bye-laws and state laws.The National Building Code states that, “Parapet walls and handrails provided on the edges of roof terraces, balcony, veranda, etc. shall not be less than 1.0 m and not more than 1.2 m in height from the finished floor level.”
