I am an electrical engineer with hands-on experience in residential and commercial wiring. The standard switch board height for installing the meter board and main switchboard is 1.5 meters from ground level. The casing will run at a height of 3.0 meters above ground level. Below, I have included some important details related to the size of the board.
What is the Switchboard Height?
Here are some important details about the height of the switchboard.
Never use conductor sizes smaller than 1.12 mm² for copper or 1.40 mm² for aluminum. Using anything less is just asking for trouble.
For flexible wires, stick to a minimum of 14 strands of 0.193 mm diameter. It keeps the wires safe and reliable over time.
While installing switches, place them at around 1.3 meters above the floor. It is the perfect height for easy access.
For socket outlets, install them at either 0.25 meters or 1.3 meters, depending on what makes the most sense for the room.
Fix them between 2 and 2.5 meters from the ground to get the best lighting effect.
Never put over 10 points in a sub-circuit. It is a simple way to avoid overloads and keep things safe.
And I always ensure the maximum load on any sub-circuit stays under 800 watts. That way, the system runs smoothly without issues.
I believe you now understand the switch board standard height clearly.
