As an interior design student, I can tell you the standard false ceiling dimensions. According to the National Building Byelaws, residential spaces should normally start at 8.5 feet high from the finished floor. But the actual dimension is completely dependent on the height drop from your true ceiling, grid size, and false ceiling board thickness.
What are the False Ceiling Standard Dimensions?
It should be at least 8.5 to 9 feet off the ground for residential properties. But, in the case of garages and sheds, it should be about 8 feet.
The false ceiling grid is usually either 2 by 2 feet (610 mm × 610 mm) or 2 by 4 feet (610 mm × 1,220 mm) in size. Tiles and light fixtures will all be the same size.
610 mm x 610 mm: Provides a consistent, grid-like appearance and is frequently utilised in workplaces or smaller spaces.
610 mm × 1,220 mm: It is often used in commercial or industrial settings. It is more cost-effective for larger rooms and makes it easier to accommodate regular fluorescent bulbs.
This is all I know about the false ceiling dimensions used in India.
